Monday afternoon my mother called me to tell me that my sister-in-law had gone into labor, and that we were going to be rushing out of town to go see the new baby when it arrived. My brother and sister had decided to wait to find out the gender till the baby was born, so everyone was really anxious to find out. We quickly loaded the car and drove out of state to try and make it in time.
About an hour and a half from our destination, our Grandpa called to let us know that the baby had been born. She was a girl, whom they named Makayla, and she weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz., and was 19 ¼ inches long. Everyone had really thought that the baby was going to be a boy, but I had a feeling that it was going to be a girl. So, I had brought gender-neutral gifts and a gift for a girl. But my parents had to stop and get new gifts for the baby. By the time we got to the hospital, everyone was leaving and my brother and sister were getting ready to go to bed. So we just looked at the baby, left the gifts, and said our congratulations.
The next day we got to come back and actually see the baby. She looks so much like her mom. We also visited a lot with my brother, who is extremely hilarious and had us cracking up the whole time. It was really nice to get to see them. We didn’t get to hold the baby, but maybe when we go back for Christmas, they’ll let us hold her.
